Southern Utah Wedding Catering Highlight: Maglebys

LET’S TALK ABOUT WEDDING CATERING!!


If you are a bride that loves food, you are a bride after my own heart. I LOVE TO EAT and I love to eat GOOD FOOD.


***Side story – I started dating this guy and his coworkers asked if I actually ate the first time we went out (ya know how some girls order salads on first dates? Not me!) Haha he’s got himself a girl who can eat!!

Wedding Catering can be tricky…. Most restaurants that do catering likely have a different menu than their regular dine-in menu and not everyone offers a ‘tasting’ so that you can test out your selections first. Not only that but if you’re planning a destination wedding, you might be trying the food for the VERY FIRST TIME with the rest of your guests!


Having a wedding coordinator comes in handy BIG TIME when it comes to catering because they know the local catering and they know their reputations!


So let’s talk about one of my FAVORITE catering companies in Southern Utah…. Maglebys! I feel like I need flashy lights or golf confetti every time I say their name because they deserve it!

I recently interviewed their catering manager, Perla (who is a DOLL by the way). I wanted to give you a little insight from a catering perspective to help your decision-making process when it comes to your wedding food!

Q: Do you provide a banquet manager to coordinate the catering?

A: Yes! We have a catering coordinator (me) who meets with you over email/phone/in-person according to your liking and also send a professional captain who is in charge on the day of the event to deliver our top quality service.

Q: Do you provide décor for food tables? (is it included or an additional charge?)

A: We work with various vendors who we know and can get decor or china, and then we just add it to your bill if you would like that service, it is an additional charge to provide that event coordination.

Q: What are the pros/cons of a buffet, plated, and food stations?

A: Honestly, I don't really think there are any cons for any of those because it depends on the atmosphere you are wanting for your event. The only thing to note is that plated and stations are a bit pricier due to the number of people that are needed to handle the event.

Q: Can you provide a waiter service for cocktail hours?

A: Yes, we can definitely do that. We also offer butler service for a pass around hors d'oeuvre.

Q: Do you provide bartenders?

A: We can for an extra fee. $50 per hour per bartender.

Q: Do you handle clean up on wedding day?

A: Our full service includes set up and clean up of our equipment, the kitchen (if used by staff) and bussing of tables.

Q: What is your favorite menu item?

A: Blackened chicken pasta all the waaaay!! I used to eat pasta every day until I realized I had gained 20 lbs over a 3 month period lol.

Q: Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

A: Absolutely!

Q: Do you make wedding cakes?

A: We make our Magleby's tower cakes that clients can use as a wedding cake if they would like to. We do not specialize in wedding cakes.

Q: Can you do themed/customized menus?

A: If it is a doable request, Absolutely.

Q: What is your favorite part about catering weddings?

A: I love seeing how happy the couple and their families and friends are for the union of their love. My favorite thing is listening to the stories about the couple and their journey of life. You can seriously feel the love in the air at weddings and the fact that I am a part of this important day is an honor.

Q: What advice would you give to a future bride looking to book Magleby's-

A: Book a tasting with us and you will find a caterer for your wedding.

Q: What venues are you a preferred caterer for?

A: Red Rock Oasis, The Villa, and The Springs, Weddings and Events. Shangri-La.

Q: What is something unique that brides should know about magleby's service?

A: We personalize our services to your needs and you can trust that we will fully take care of you with a top-quality.

Q: How can a bride book you?

A: You can call or email me and I will get the details together of what you are looking for and a $300 deposit to hold your date.

One thing that Perla didn’t mention was how AMAZING her staff is. They have the best banquet team who are always willing to jump in and help wherever it might be needed. They show up with a smile and go above and beyond to take care of you and your guests. When you hire Maglebys, you not only have I N C R E D I B L E food, but an incredible staff with hearts of gold!


P.S If you’re ever in town you HAVE to try the shrimp tacos on their lunch menu…. MAJOR HEART EYES. Their staff know me well and they know that the shrimp tacos are what I always get.

I think I know what I’ll be having for dinner tonight!!
